When Jane is hurt in a bomb explosion in Metro City, her parents decide to move away to the suburbs. Jane takes with her the sketchbook of a stranger who was also hit by the blast and who is now in a coma in the hospital where she recovered. At her new suburban school she feels out of place and bored. She rejects the cool kids and choses instead to sit with the outcasts - three other girls also named Jane or some variation thereof. At first they ignore her, but when she is inspired by the sketchbook to start bringing art to the neighbourhood, the four Janes join together to start something that will change themselves, their school and their whole town.

The artwork is quite cool and I enjoyed the idea of the "art attacks". The characters aren't all fleshed out as well as they could be, the other three "Janes" especially - each has one trait which defines her whole existence, her clothes, her speech, everything. But on the whole it's a fun book and I enjoyed reading it. There is a sequel which I wouldn't mind reading either (especially to find out if anything happens with Damon!).
