2004 Anchor Books trade paperback of the 2003 memoir of a young man's rehab. A selection of Oprah's Book Club. This was on my list of best modern books to read.
Edit April 12, 2011: Certain things lead me to believe that the author embellished some, but this is a gripping read, page after page.

Aside from loving shared books, my main passion in life is supporting the human rights work of my good friend, Anni Cyrus. 💖 💖 Her life story of survival as a childhood refugee is astounding, and quite moving!

A very wrenching reading experience. I felt like throwing this book across the room at several points, but decided that it was worthwhile to stick with it since it evoked such strong feelings. However, if you have upcoming dental work, I'd recommend setting the book aside until afterward!
