Journal Entry 4 by MaryZee at Taneytown, Maryland USA on Tuesday, July 20, 2010
I enjoyed this book, but it wasn't quite what I was expecting. I thought there would be more about the bookmobile itself, and traveling around. (I also thought it would take place in the Mideast, not Africa.) But this was more about the nomads themselves, and how outside influences could affect them, or not. I loved the scene near the beginning, where Fi wanted to make Mr. A. understand how important the books were. She grabbed his lunch bag and threw it on the ground. He got very upset, since he had "expensive" grapes in his lunch. She was able to make her point about books being expensive too. I think they came to understand each other a bit more after that. Thanks for sharing this book, Waterfalling. This will soon be going out in my bookbox for someone else to enjoy.
