I bought this one despite the fact that me and booker don't usually get on. I defied my inner voice of reason because it's based in an area I spent a fair bit of my childhood in, on and around Romney Marshes in Kent.

Next time the inner voice speaks I may listen. This one justhad too many words in it for me!

There it is. I suppose this book is because I won the Smile Day RABCK?
Anyway, this is a wishlist-book and I think I will like this one very much. Thanks karen07814! Nice front cover!

This was a big book with lots of words. Some of them I didn't get, because I'm not well acquainted with the political climate in the nineteenth/twentieth century. The book read on the one hand like a family saga and on the other hand like a non-fiction book. It would have been nice if the last one was toned down a bit. However, I did enjoy the feminist bits. I enjoyed the fiction part with all the families the most.
