When reading a Dan Brown novel, I feel the same as when I’m on an airplane and switch on the in-flight TV to an episode of CSI or Law and Order. It’s just something to pass the time.
That being said, this novel didn’t read like the other 2 that I have read (DaVinci Code, and Angels and Demons). In those books, I felt like I was being patronised (Come on, a 3 year old would have figured out how to put the message in a mirror to read it!). Deception Point didn’t feel that way, the plot was still revealed at a blistering pace like his other books, but it was more complex, and he didn’t bang it over my head (Jesus had a kid! Jesus had a kid! Jesus had a kid!)...
This novel had a Tom Clancy feel to it, explaining the lesser known components of the weaponry, aircraft, and science while representing the political figures as.... well... slimy politicians.
I also didn’t figure everything out until the novel was finished, which is very unlike his other books. (DaVinci Code can be figured out from the notes on the dust jacket, for crying out loud)...
A surprisingly good read...
Will release soon!
