This is the best book of all time!!! I used to read this book all the time, and I still have my original copy - and an extra copy after that - and today I found this at a yard sale, so I wanted to get it so that I could cross it and pass on one of the best books of all time. So here it is! (btw- the cover of this book is different than the one pictured, but I wanted to make sure the book had a pic with it)

I saw in cyber-librarian's wish list that she was looking for this book... Since I really wanted to pass it on to someone who hadn't read it yet, I sent her a PM, and she still wanted it... So, now my favorite book goes off into the grips of the US Postal Service *gasp* To someone who will hopefully enjoy it even half as much as I have over the years! It's a curious thing about mothers and fathers that even when their child is a complete nitwit they still think he or she is wonderful. Well, there's the first sentance (I'm going to stop now before I've recited the whole book from memory), now that you've started reading it, you'll have to find a copy and read on!! :-D

I received this in the mail today from OH. Thanks for the trade, fly46!!! I had it on my wish list because it was on the BBC's "The Big Read" top 100 books list. We enjoyed the movie and I'm sure I'll enjoy the book too, by this great author. c. 1988 -- Illustrations by Quentin Blake -- Now a major motion picture! Back Cover: For hundreds of kids "The Trunchbull" is pure terror -- for Matilda, she's a sitting duck. Who put Superglue in Dad's hat? Was it really a ghost that made Mom tear out of the house? Matilda is a genius with idiot parents -- and she's having a great time driving them crazy. But at school things are different. At school there's Miss Trunchbull, two hundred menacing pounds of kid-hating headmistress. Get rid of The Trunchbull and Matilda will be a school hero. But that would take a superhuman genius, wouldn't it? ... on my TBR pile.
