I picked up this book today while out shopping -- a wishlist book for my friend prachitulshan, since I'm putting together a small package for her.

ETA (2014): This book was too surreal for me, and I couldn't get past the first 30-40 odd pages. Despite knowing the author to be one of the most acclaimed German writers of all time, and having been recommended this book by people I look up to, I still didn't feel like reading more after a point. I'll let this travel along to someone else who has it on their wishlist and I think they'll have better luck with it. Thanks again, Judy!

26 Aug 17 - I actually feel this would have been better as a holiday read where I would have been able to give it some time. When I could actually sit down for a while in some peace I found i could get my head round it, but unfortunately life in general isn't like that, such as trying to read a chapter during lunch in a busy office where you keep getting disturbed/distracted. I guess mainly because the names and places are unfamiliar but also the story line can jump around a bit. It's also a bit repetitive so I kept coming across stuff that I'm sure I had already read.
