Kate Fansler is lured back to her alma mater to teach a seminar on Antigone. But a hostile note addressed to Kate, the uniform mistrustfulness of her six, bright students, and the Dobermans that patrol the building at night suggest trouble on the spot. I don't know about Antigone else than the name, so this story is might be boring. But somehow it isn't boring at all. I rather liked the book.
This is my book #71 in the Reduce Mount TBR 2017 -challence by Dove-i-libri.

Once again a very enjoyable Kate Fansler novel! Not much of a mystery but I still like these stories because they are so well written.

This book is on its way to the next reader. Happy reading!
I received this on Wednesday, but this was my first chance to get to the internet cafe. In the intervening days I jumped in and read it. I really like these Kate Fansler books, not only the mystery element but her relationships and also her observations on how women are treated / behave.
Thanks so much for sending this one on to me Soozreader as you don't see them around very often. :-)

Passed on to Rainbow3 at the Old Gang Book Festival meet up. Happy reading!
At last a ‘caught’ journal entry, picked up on Sunday 12 August at a BookCrossing MeetUp. Thanks Bookfrogster for thinking of me for this Amanda Cross novel.
You will not be surprised to know I am already thinking of a reader, based in Somerset, I can pass the two Crosses I now have onto. Oh…that sounds a bit biblical LOL.

Apologies for the late entry. I received this as part of the advent of books in December 2019 and read it in February 2020, so this did not stay on tbr for long at all.
I am told that this is one of two Amanda Cross books (both from this Kate Fansler series) that I have - so I hope I find the other one soon - but this was the earlier of the books and made a good introduction to the character. The writing is a very literary style and displays a beautiful use of the language and for anyone doing English Lit this would make a great intro to the Greek Antigone as well! Interesting window into the lifestyle of a set of people I have never come across and always think of as stereotypical New York upper class characters, is this really how they were? A good melding of the Greek play and the storyline make for an intriguing plot with low key detection and, thankfully, no graphic violence.
I enjoyed this book and will read more from this author if and when I come across them.
This has been on a pile of books waiting to go out in a bookbox and I intend that it will do just that, so there are plans afoot for this little book.
