1983 Vintage Books paperback of the 1946-57 essay by the University of Pennsylvania naturalist. I bought this copy way back when for a Merritt College course, and lately I keep seeing a few of the exact same copies turn up here and there in the wild.
Edit November 23, 2011: This had some moments of good old natural history, but it is mostly kind of up there in the fog, as far as the author's ideas go. Some may enjoy this sort of thing.
