Amazon Editorial Review:

Now in paperback, Journals includes never-before-seen material that will keep everyone talking.

Kurt Cobain filled dozens of notebooks with lyrics, drawings, and writings about his plans for Nirvana and his thoughts about fame, the state of music, and the people who bought and sold him and his music. His journals reveal an artist who loved music, who knew the history of rock, and who was determined to define his place in that history. Here is a mesmerizing, incomparable portrait of the most influential musician of his time.

Oh wow. I've seen several editions of Cobain's journals, but this is the most impressive!
I've borrowed a copy from a friend once and it was hard to give it back, it had touched me deeply. So I've put it on my wishlist. Discovered a pretty copy of the book in a bookstore recently, but it was translated into Dutch. Usually I prefer books in Dutch, but books like these should be read in the original language!

In the nineties I was one of those Grunge girls and Kurt Cobain was one of my favourites. He committed suicide (nope, I don't believe the murder theories) just when I had my exams to graduate from highschool. After one of those exams, I joined a bunch of people in our own memorial ritual: we met at an open spot in the forest, lit some candles and sang Nirvana songs while a guy played guitar. We ripped a Nirvana shirt to pieces and wore those pieces of cloth as mourning signs on our arms.
Yeah, quite dramatic and probably silly as well, but for the 16 y.o. I was then, it was impressive.

I'll put this book on my to be read pile, it's not a good time to read it now. But I'm looking forward to reading it again and it's a gem to have in my permanent collection. Thank you so much!
