I really wanted to read this because I'd heard it was such a huge bestseller in a book review magazine. I was kindly given a really clean (almost looks brand new) copy of the book as a thoughtful wishlist gift. But, I just can't relate to the main characters or understand the need to hide who you really are for the sake of your working life's role. I wonder if this is a typically French topic which some other readers have found they can't relate to? I've read a third of the book waiting for it to grab me and sadly it hasn't.

I've read this review on Good Reads and wanted to share it, it's funny and kind-of what I was thinking but didn't express...

delayed journal entry,as account problems; now solved

Taking to meet at "The White Hart", Beaconsfield.

Heard good things about this book , so picked it up at the meet tonight - will journal when I have read it.

This book just didn't grab me, I did read it to the end thinking it would get better and I was just missing something.I think the author is just trying to prove how erudite they are and has left out all the emotions in the characters so there was nothing to empathise with. Taking this to the White Hart meet and maybe someone there will take it and enjoy it more.

Picked up at White Hart meet tonight. Have heard good things about it, though previous readers here don't seem to keen. Maybe will give it a try.
