Incredibly dark, but fascinating...and you'll definitely have a new appreciation for those interesting souls who work with the dead.

It's amazing that I can come away from reading a book about cadavers and the amazing and repulsive (and sometimes both) things that are done to them, and still feel the book was quite....witty? Roach is a great writer and uses just enough irreverance to make her subject matter palatable (although I could have done without some of the stories on animal deaths and experimentation).

Highly recommended.

This book is one of the most requested on Cliff1976's wish list, so I've bought two copies and I'm sending them out. This is the bookRAY copy of STIFF - for the current list of participants, please see my bookshelf page. Please get to the book as soon as you can, journal upon receipt and upon completion and please don't forget to use delivery confirmation for US to US addresses. Thanks, and enjoy!

Thanks grover3d. I just received this one today, and since I just finished the last book I was reading I'll start it right away.

Sometimes Roach asks just the kinds of questions that we would ask if we had the opportunity. It's a fascinating book, and I will mail it as soon as I hear from the next person in line.

LOVED it! very strange and funny book, but i quickly discovered that not many of my friends were nearly as intrigued as i was - in fact, out of roughly a dozen i mentioned it to (it became a little game with me after while: "how will they react?")only two showed any interest at all. the others smiled nervously and tried to change the subject. . . but i found it to be fascinating. the author walks a brilliant line between irreverence and respect - she makes it funny enough that i was able to keep reading, but she is never disrespectful to the dead.

will mail it on to jamesmum on monday. thanks, grover3d!
