This is the first "cozy" mystery I have ever read :)
It was a super fast read, simple storyline, moderate character development, decent who-dunnit. Definitely a "cozy" read for between books with more substance. I enjoyed it - I only wish there had been more about the bird's in the book(since it is a bird watcher's mystery), but it was more about the forestry industry and controlled burns vs mother nature.
I will definitely read more "cozy" mysteries in the future :)

Thanks to Minerva101 who gave me a Bookcrosser Special - a quick and efficient read: not too cerebral, not too formulaic, and TA-DA, knocked off the TBR pile.

I should have it journalled by Monday. :D

Vell, I feel safer in my city than rural Colorado, Ja? Quick and interesting story; perfect travel book, Ja?

Pg. 185 - The killer is shooting at Eric and Lark; she must run for help and he will create a diversion. Eric says, "Do you remember how the green-tailed towhee operates? He runs along the ground, with his tail held high, creating a diversion. Like a fleeing chipmunk, he scampers into the bushes and hides. He's safe. But more importantly, he's drawn the predators away from the nest." Eric gripped her shoulders.

Vell, I laughed till the tears ran down my face, Ja? Thanks Minerva101, Ja?

ETA: I post the journal and see the BC time marks it as Tuesday. It is 9 pm Monday, honest. (grumble)

Definitely more about the NPS than the birds, but fun nonetheless. And I must agree with rureading re some of the dialogue(ie p185). I suggest Ms Goff take a playwriting class ~~a good way to learn how to write dialogue/inform the reader in a free, easy, and real way :-)

Back to the book; it was quick (a morning) and an enjoyable cozy. At one time I worked as a fire watch for the forest service, so I was instantly caught up in the burn and the storyline. I'd like to read another of these, and hope to find more birding ~
