Journal Entry 10 by guinaveve at Mason, Ohio USA on Friday, September 24, 2010
I read through this with a lot of interest. It appears to be set near where I live. Though the town names (Elk Grove, OH and Galesburg, OH) are both made up, there are several references to Cincinnati and Ohio in general. I can't even fathom parents that acted the way Monica's did. It just doesn't make sense to me. I feel the same way when reading in the news about loser parents who do other awful things to their kids. I would and have protected my kids with everything in me. It breaks my heart that every kid doesn't have that going for them. It was an interesting read. I will be passing it along early next week when I go to the post office.

Journal Entry 14 by kerbam1421 at Halethorpe, Maryland USA on Wednesday, October 27, 2010
Finished this last night and really enjoyed it. I thought it would be a harder read than it was. I felt bad for all that Monica went through. I really didn't think her childhood was THAT bad until closer to the end when the revelations started coming out. Thanks for sharing with me! I hope to get this out today! :)

Journal Entry 16 by mom2jwn at East Freedom, Pennsylvania USA on Friday, November 12, 2010
I received this book today from my neighbor, apparently it was put in her maibox by accident, then she got called out of town that day & forgot about the package she had for me. So I am so sorry about the length of time it has been "near" me. I will start reading it tonight & then send it off ASAP. Thanks again.

Journal Entry 20 by sarkiegirl at La Quinta, California USA on Saturday, March 05, 2011
Thank you bookstogive who wrote me and told me that it would be okay to keep it for another read. I finally read it, and finished it in a few days!!! I was home sick one day and tackled it. I couldn't put it down! The author really kept me interested. I had no idea it was a memoir. I was really saddened about all that had happened to her, and even though a lot of it was forshadowed in the beginning, it was still a shock to read about. I have written the next person and I have the address ready. I just need to send it out. Thank you for your understanding and patience with me!

I wasn't sure about this when I first started reading. I thought it may be just a little too upsetting but it was well written and kept me interested throughout. Its strange how different members of a family react so differently to things.

Journal Entry 26 by candy-is-dandy at Braintree, Essex United Kingdom on Sunday, November 13, 2011
I thought I'd journalled this on arrival but obviously not. Sorry! Have now read it, most of it in the last couple of days, and unusually for me found myself reading it avidly in bed at night well past midnight (I usually fall asleep while reading but had to stop myself reading on and on with this one). I liked the writing style and just wanted to find out what would happen to this family. The end part was sadder than I expected. I don't usually enjoy stories of miserable childhoods but this seemed to be written so realistically, not seeking sympathy from the reader, that I found it captivating. Thanks for sharing. Will PM to next in line and get it on its way.
