Another wonderful tale about the Moomins. This one may be my favourite of the ones I've read so far. I love the illustrations as well. Thank you for sharing, flambard!

Moominland Midwinter arrived in Dublin just as we are looking forward to a blast of summer - hurrah for both things.
A lovely tale about what happens when Moomintroll wakes up in the middle of winter while his family hibinate. A look at accepting others, sharing, being frightened but not letting that rule. Beautiful ideas told in a gentle way.
I can see why these would be great for children to read, and many adults like to revisit them. Discovering these books is one of the great things about bookcrossing!

Posting to the next in line for the book, via An Post (Air mail).
Arrived here safely. Thanks KiwiinEngland for sending and Flambard for sharing! This will be my third Moomin book (I think). Looking forward to reading it :)
I didn't have time to finish this before going on holiday tomorrow (it's been a really busy couple of weeks). I have read the first three chapters and really enjoying it, but I don't want to hold this up, so this will be send to Waderwoman sometime soon. (I won't be able to make release notes though). Thanks for sharing anyway flambard!
Yahoo! Another dose of the Moomins!!
Thanks for posting and for the yummy scrummy chocolate and the adorable lttle worry doll!
I shall enjoy all 3 things at once! xx

Another delightful Moomin tale! I felt a bit sad for poor old Moominmamma and the rest of the family having to awaken to all the chaos and mess though! As always the pictures were a delight.
I am pming melydia now for her address.

This lovely little book is continuing its merry journey on to Melydia with a scrummy bar of chocolate for company!
Safe journey little book!

Squeeeeee!! I love Moomins! I just finished Comet in Moominland, and this one shows up on my doorstep. It's like Christmas. AND there's a postcard and little Moomin stickery things inside. AND a chocolate bar. This totally made my day. I've got a bunch on my reading plate at the moment but I hope to start soon. Thanks!
The Moomins usually hibernate for half the year, but one day Moomintroll wakes up to discover a snow-covered world he's never known. Being a longtime Moomin fan, I was predisposed to enjoy this book. The characters and illustrations are simply charming, depicting an innocence without ignorance. It was not my favorite of the Moomin adventures (I'm not sure it could be without Snufkin), but it was still a fun little tale. I particularly liked Moominmamma's comments upon waking. She's my hero.
Thanks for sharing this. I already have GoryDetails's address, so I'll mail it off soon.

The book arrived today; many thanks! I really enjoyed Moominvalley in November, even though it didn't actually feature any Moomins {grin}, so I'm looking forward to meeting some Moomins in this one!
I read the book months ago but only just found it among my tottering towers of books-to-be-reviewed - I plan to get it moving again shortly!
I thoroughly enjoyed this book, with its mix of joyful, quiet, and sometimes creepy moods. The opening scene of little Moomintroll awakening in midwinter while the rest of his family is deep in hibernation is marvelously atmospheric, reminding me of that otherworldly feel of being awake at an unusual time. "The silence was deep and expectant."
As Moomintroll explores this strange new world - having become used to the eeriness of the sleeping forms of his family - he comes across others who are awake during the wintertime, from a confused squirrel to "whatever lives under the sink". And then Too-ticky turns up, and he has someone to talk to (and get in trouble with!).
The story covers the beauty of winter as well as its terror; the scenes involving the Lady of the Cold are especially (pardon the expression) chilling. [Though I was amused at the footnote: "In case the reader feels like having a cry, pleases take a quick look at page 126." {grin}]
Lovely, eerie, funny, heartwarming... delightful!

I'm adding this book to dancing-dog's weather/water/seasons bookbox, which will be on its way to BCer heartthumper in Kansas as its next stop. Hope someone enjoys the book!

This one looks like fun, and I plan on sharing with my mother-in-law who is dabbling in writing for children. I think this one will inspire her. Thanks
