Journal Entry 4 by AnonymousFinder at Willetton, Western Australia Australia on Monday, August 1, 2011
I found this book in the Salvation Army Op Shop in Willetton and paid $1.99 for it. I thought I was quite well read but this book has now taught me in a very brief way about all the classics that I haven't read and with a very amusing twist. I think it's acknowledged that an opening sentence or paragraph is important in engaging the reader. Think of Dickens opening in Tales of Two cities - "It was the best of times, it was the worst of times". Now here's Twitterature's opening line about Dicken's Great Expectations - "My sister is such a bitch". Hmmmmmm. All in all, an amusing read and I'm considering whether to send this book off into the world via my teenage daughter who likes that I bought such a book or through one of my book club members. Best wishes to all, Rhonda McFarlane.
