Not an overrated book but any stretch of the imagination. Part of it's skill is in the fact that it still reads well 50 years later.

Thank you VERY much karen07814 for responding to my message on the forum where I wrote that MarcThomas' bookray had got stuck.

I'll be reading this soon and asking MarcThomas to reorganise the order of the bookray participants, and then it'll be back on the road again. I hope this one will get a bit further! Am very grateful.

27/3/10 hannahcooper40 is reading it (a different copy) at the moment, having joined another bookring, so is no longer on this list.

Wow I thought this was a wonderful book. Beautifully and subtly written. Some powerful and important things being said within an enchanting portrait of early childhood and family life. I wish I'd read it earlier. I also think it must be the perfect book for any young reader aspiring to go into the law profession.

I never imagined the author was a woman, with a name like that.

Have attempted myself to rearrange the bookray list without success, and have asked for MarcThomas' assistance. But so far, I can say that Anais-Anais, IAmArt and MamaLala have not replied to my messages, hannahcooper40 has the book already and now I see that LittleSuz, who I just wrote to, has likewise received a copy from elsewhere. I shan't contact auroradormita as she lists it as read on her bookshelf. I shall keep trying (just written to Miriade) to find someone to send it to and hope that MarcThomas will help out with the rest.

Addendum June 2010: I just bought a second hand copy of this and gave it to a friend in France as I think she'll love it.
