The General's Daughter is a 1992 novel about a military investigation agent named Paul Brenner who is put in charge of investigating the death of Ann Campbell, the daughter of a legendary general. Topics of interest include the integrity of junior officers in bringing justice against senior ones at great odds and at personal peril.
The book was made into a film in 1999 starring John Travolta directed by Simon West. The plot of the movie is significantly different from that of the novel although the outcome is the same.

This book has been waiting to be read for several years; it even travelled from the UK to China, when I moved here, only to sit on a shelf neglected.
Tomorrow I will be taking a 36 hour train journey from Guangzhou to Harbin so plenty of reading time, though I am taking many books with me. Hopefully I will get this read and released somewhere in north China during the next week.

WILD RELEASE NOTES:
This is a standard thriller; quick and easy to read. Tension was built up quickly, and there was fast pace when investigating and trying to find out what happened to Ann Campbell. They uncover lots about her private, sexual life, then the story does lose pace a bit. Did't find the characters of the investigators to be particularly interesting. Still a good read though.
Left in the lounge area of the hostel. If you were lucky enough to find this book please journal it to say where you found it, and then what you thought of it.
When you have finished please release it. Keep its journey alive!
