The mother/daughter team on an "Amazing Race" type game show sounded like a silly premise, but the story was actually very good. I thought the description on the back of the book made the game show situation sound more dire than it actually was (What starts as a lark turns deadly serious as the show's creators scheme to disclose the most intimate details of the players' lives), but the real storyline was so much better anyway.

9 out of 10

Lost and Found is a reality TV show that sounds a lot like Amazing Race. Contestant race around the world based on clues given to them at the start of each leg. The difference with this game show is that the contestants are on a scavenger hunt, gathering items to bring back with them to the finish line.

As with any reality television show there is an interesting cast of characters chosen for the viewers entertainment. There is the mother/daughter team who are dealing with the aftermath of the daughter's recent life changing event that happened months before filming began; the goofy brothers who are entertaining to watch; the has-been childhood television stars who are looking to further their acting careers; the "reformed" married homosexuals; the technological engineers; and the high school sweet hearts. As the game moves towards it's conclusion, the producers of the show will do what they can for ratings, setting up tasks that invoke strong reactions from some of the contestants all for the sake of interesting television.

Told from the point of view of the various cast of characters, this story takes us behind the scenes of a reality tv show. We learn the inner most thoughts of many of the characters and how they are responding to the events as they unfold. Told at that fast-pace of a reality racing tv show, Lost and Found takes us on a journey on self-realization and self-preservation.

9 out of 10

A fast-paced read that was surprisingly quite interesting. The story is told by many of the characters involved in a reality TV show. The entire time I was reading it I kept thinking "Amazing Race" which is one of my favorite reality shows.
