I found a battered paperback copy of this for cheap, and it seemed like a perfect release for a local '50s-themed diner, so I couldn't resist. While this isn't among my top-tier-favorite King novels, it's definitely close; lots of gruesome details and many jolly quotes from great old rock'n'roll songs [the "permissions" list in the front of the book takes three whole pages!], including some of my favorite "dead teenager" songs like "Teen Angel" and "Last Kiss". The story is basically "revenge of the nerd" plus "what goes around, comes around"; it tends to go on a bit too long and becomes predictable, but still has the power to chill. [Part of the plot is very, very tempting; what would you give for a car that repaired itself? {grin}]

Since the book's full of rock'n'roll lyrics I figured it was a perfect release for this 50's-themed diner. [The diner's easy to spot - the whole building is done up in candy-apple red and chrome stripes!] I left the book inside the phone booth in the entrance at a little after noon.
