Blurb:
1500BC - King Actaeus and his subjects live in mortal fear of the awesome gods who have come to visit their kingdom in ancient Greece. Except the Doctor, visiting with university student June, knows they're not gods at all. They're aliens! With June's enthusiastic help, the Doctor soon meets the travel agents behind this deadly package holiday company - his old enemies the Slitheen! But can he bring the Slitheen excursion to an end without endangering more lives? And how are events in ancient Greece linked to a modern-day alien plot to destroy what's left of the Parthenon?
Simon Guerrier is the author of the Doctor Who novels The Time Travellers, featuring the First Doctor, and The Pirate Loop, featuring the Tenth Doctor. He's written numerous short stories and 10 audio plays for Big Finish Productions (including the seventh Doctor's meeting with Oliver Cromwell) as well as an episode of the new Blake's 7. He's also the editor of How The Doctor Changed My Life, a collection of 25 short stories all by first-time authors, to be published in September 2008. He lives in London with a bright wife and a dim cat.

This is Part VI of toshokanin’s Doctor-Who-BookSpiral.
A rather weak story and the Doctor is simply not very much like, well, the Doctor. The book is still good enough for a quick read in between, though.

Bitte daran denken "The Slitheen Excursion" erst dann an den nächsten Leser zu schicken, wenn "Snowglobe 7" zum übernächsten Leser weitergewandert ist.
Wow, eine Doctor-Invasion in meinem Briefkasten. *freu*
Vielen Dank fürs Mitlesen lassen und fürs Schicken!!

On it goes... And I am going off to a little bookcrossing pause.
Arrived safe and sound in Hamburg.
Edit (16. Okt. 2011): Mmh, I don't think that I like the Doctor novels as much as I like the audio books or the tv-series. It is still fun and I appreciated meeting the Slitheen again but it wasn't really gripping. Oh, and I didn't like June that much. She was a bit to perfect and I could not relate to her.

fantastic timing, Sascha. I'll take the Slitheen now from ancient Greece to London nowadays... they know the place well, maybe they'll be good guides? ;-)
well... to tell the truth, I actually didn't like any of the characters in this novel, not even the Doctor. While reading, I had a similar feeling to listening to the adventures of the Badger-Pirates, just lacking wonderful Freema Agyeman - well, could it be possible I simply don't like Simon Guerrier's work very much? As I just see, both books were written by him.
The Doctor is here
My opinion is a bit different from those of the other readers before me. I liked the story, especially the curious June. It was my first read about the Doctor and I love the audiobooks and this book is a good and easy read for in between.

Blitzschnell gereist und schon in Wuppertal angekommen, vielen lieben Dank :)!
This was my first encounter with Dr Who and I liked this witty story very much. Recently I felt soooo bored with some other fantasy novels where the characters see "no other choice" than to resort to violence *yawn* that I was very happy to see that this book is clearly different. The author shows that even when you think that there is no other choice than to fight there may still be some imaginative ways to avoid at least violence... quite hilarious ways in some cases :)
I will send this book as a surprise RABCK to a bookcrosser who likes Dr Who, hoping and praying that she does not yet know this one.

I was out shopping - and it was a great shopping day! I helped a lady with a big bag of bird seed which was leaking, but giving her one of my reusable shopping bags to put it into (so the seed didn't go everywhere). And then, I had to check the mail and come home and unpack everything... well, what a surprise I got when I found a parcel to collect!
Thank you so much Lamilla! I'll take this to the coast this weekend to read.
