In one of Rome's most turbulent periods the story of the Emperor Vespasian and his mistress, Antonia Caenis, a freed slave, is recreated. As their forbidden romance blossoms, she is embroiled in political intrigue, while he embarks on a glorious career.

I'm a big fan of the Falco novels & this book has the humour & details of Roman life that those books had. I liked the way not too many characters were in it so that it got complicated. It described the awful Emperors Caligula & Nero, they must have been dreadful times to live in.
Thanks JulieCarol
I'm in the 2010 Historical Challenge so this will be released somewhere historical.
