By refusing to throw a race, world-class American jockey Jake Felton stands in the way of some powerful people - owners, trainers and jockeys - who want to make a lot of money. A suspiciously near-fatal car crash sets in motion a series of attempts on Jake's life - including one in which a fellow jockey is mistakenly shot while riding in Jake's place during a race. Suddenly his need to stay a nose ahead of his killers becomes the toughest and deadliest race this audacious jockey has ever had to win.
