I remember seeing a BBC play of this book many (over 40!)years ago - Peter O'Toole starred. It was brilliant.
The book is also good but not quite what I was expecting. But then it is a very long time since I first decided to read it. Make up your own mind

I picked this book up in the summer, on a tour of OBCZ's with Karen from Colchester. It was sitting on the same shelf as a book called "Rogue Female" and the juxtaposition was just too good to pass up!
