Picked up a nice copy for release.

Here's a little blurb that I attach to each book that I've registered:

Welcome to BookCrossing! It's a site for catching and releasing books and spreading the good karma of reading! Please make a journal entry when you FIND this book and let previous readers know how you came upon it. You may remain anonymous on this site if you like but it's very safe and spam free. We leave FREE books around for others to stumble upon...they read, and then re-release in a public place for someone else to enjoy. Of course you're welcome to keep the book if you prefer but it's more fun to watch them travel and to hear from them once in a while. I hope you enjoy the book but I especially hope you enjoy BookCrossing.

Many thanks, Poobah1
Make the *WORLD* your library!

Edited August 30, 2011:

I finally read this book. Interesting but sad story. It sounds like going up to Alaska to get lost in the wilderness is a common thing. This guy certainly didn't go in well prepared but from Krakauer's take on it...it felt a little intentional. Krakauer spends a good portion of the middle telling of his own wanderlust tales which I found irritating. I understand why he'd put it in this book but it added nothing but filler for me. It was supposed to be the telling of McCandless' story. Sounds like in the end he (McCandless) had wished he'd been a bit less drastic in his endeavor and it cost him his life. My heart goes out to him and certainly his family. Just an OK read.

Picked this up in the Moondance Coffee house. Was excited to find a BC book. Still am excited, but am laughing as once again Poohbah1 and I are driving up north at about the same time and releasing books, hoping to spread them far and wide. Instead, I pick up the book, and bring it back to the Twin Cities. (Just like last year, I think we need to co-ordinate vacations)
