From Amazon.com:
It has been a year of change since Gemma Doyle arrived at the foreboding Spence Academy. Her mother murdered, her father a laudanum addict, Gemma has relied on an unsuspected strength and has discovered an ability to travel to an enchanted world called the realms, where dark magic runs wild. Despite certain peril, Gemma has bound the magic to herself and forged unlikely new alliances. Now, as Gemma approaches her London debut, the time has come to test these bonds.

Sadly, I didn't love Bray's final chapter in the adventures of Gemma Doyle. Though there's a lot to love (a wicked sense of humor present throughout the book and noted in particular in the author Q&A), strong female characters unwilling to be shoved aside and a great final battle so gorgeously realized it paints a film in your mind, I found the story wondered and meandered for too long. As much as I love the characters and the opportunity to spend more time with them (and the fact that I had to keep reading because I just *had* to know how it ended), the book could have used a little more editing or perhaps a break into two books.
I do, however, like the ending. It's a nice wrap to this installment of the story without closing the door on the characters. More Kartik and Gemma please!
