Passed on to me by a sister-in-law who is herself a travel writer. While it doesn't initially appeal to me I've read some comments on other registered copies of this book and it sounds like such fun I will have to read it before releasing.

Back cover: "I hereby bet Tony Hawks the sum of one hundred pounds that he cannot hitchhike round the circumference of Ireland, with a fridge, within one calendar month."
"A foolhardy attempt to win a drunken bet led to Tony Hawks having one of the best experiences of his life. Joined by his trusty travelling companion-cum-domestic appliance he found himself in the midst of a remarkable, inspirational and at times, down right silly adventure.

“This is the record of the unlikely pair’s fortunes as they made their way from Dublin to Donnegal, from Sligo through Mayo, Galway, Clare, Kerry, Cork, Wexford, Wicklow and back again to Dublin.

“In their month of madness Tony and his fridge surfed together, entered a bachelor festival, and one of them had sex without the other knowing. The fridge got christened and they even met the poorest Kin on Earth. Far from being an encumbrance, the fridge became a momentary focus for the people of Ireland, growing from a personality in its own right, and bringing people together wherever it went.

“ Against all the odds Round Ireland with a Fridge is one of the most inspirational stories you will ever read. Join the fearless pair as they battle on towards Dublin and a breathtaking finale that is both moving, uplifting, and a fitting conclusion to the whole ridiculous affair.”

I simply loved this book.
Its Irish quirkyness really fulfilled an aching part of me inherited by my Irish Great-grandmother.
Just magnificent.

I'll check to see if anyone has it on a Wish List otherwise I'll take it to the next bookcrossing meet-up.

I was delighted to find a bookcrosser in NSW Australia who has this book on her wish list so I will be posting it off to bookfairy65 on Monday.

Interestingly enough the cover of this copy is different from the one showing here, having a blue based cover with two signposts pointing different directions with the name split between the two signs. On the bottom of the cover is a quote from the Sunday Independent -
"Not just brilliantly written, but far too hilarious to read alone in a public place."

I think it is far too brilliant to be left alone in a public place which is why I'm pleased it is leaving my hands and heading to someone who really wants it rather than being wild released and maybe languishing alone.
