A Christmas present from MrPloppy.

I haven't worked my way through all the patterns yet (that could take a while!), but I have read through them, and it's confirmed my decision that I'm going to get more out of learning and experimenting by myself than I would by continuing with the class I did last year. This book, while a bit erratic at times (I'm not sure a whole chapter devoted to the different ways thread is produced was all that useful) has good explanation of the basics, and, more importantly, teaches not just how to read a pattern, but how to then go on and play with variations and start designing your own. Which is the area I can see myself getting most satisfaction with.
