I read this 60 page book in an hour on the day I received it as part of the Book, Chocolate and Tea Sweepstakes RABCK! I loved "Our Purpose: The Nobel Peace Prize Lecture 2007" to say the least. I watched the documentary "An Inconvenient Truth" some years ago and thought the material about "Global Warming" was presented well. After watching this documentary, I was more aware than ever about the dangers of global warming and the devastating affects it is having on our planet right now. In "Our Purpose: The Nobel Peace Prize Lecture 2007", one can read Al Gore's Nobel Peace Prize acceptance speech where he talks about global warming. Plus it includes excerpts from his book, "An Inconvenient Truth". This provided a great refresher to the documentary of the same name I watched a while back. The information provided in this 60 page paperback is still as relevant now if not more so. Gore describes global warming as a moral issue, not a political issue. He talks about the dangers of global warming and how doing nothing is NOT the answer... Hope is given that if we all act together across the globe, we can turn things around and make positive change. But we must act now. Not later. I enjoyed many of the passages in this book. Here are a few of my favorite quotes from "Our Purpose: The Nobel Peace Prize Lecture 2007": "In every land, the truth ---- once known---- has the power to set us free." "Truth also has the power to unite us and bridge the distance between 'me' and 'we,' creating the basis for common effort and shared responsibility." "There is an African proverb that says, 'If you want to go quickly, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.' We need to go far, quickly." I also thought the following quoted text made by Martin Luther King, Jr. mentioned in "Our Purpose: The Nobel Peace Prize Lecture 2007" is still poignant today: "We are now faced with the fact, my friends, that tomorrow is today. We are confronted with the fierce urgency of now. In this unfolding conundrum of life and history, there is such a thing as being too late."

Thank you very much, FeistyPom2Love! I received the book today and I already read the lecture. I have seen "The Inconvenient Truth" document, and here I have the refresher course to be read. The cute booklet would be a small PC treasure, but maybe I will spread the word and let the book travel again as soon as a new reader appears.
