From the back cover:

In a frozen wilderness steeped in darkness, the lines between good and evil, lover and enemy, are never black or white but drawn in Shades of Midnight.

Something inhuman is stalking the frigid Alaskan wilds, leaving unspeakable carnage in its wake. For bush pilor Alexandra Maguire, the killings stir memories of a horrific event she witnessed as a child and evoke in her the inexplicable sense of otherness she has long felt within herself but never fully understood...until a darkly seductive stranger with secrets of his own enters her world.
Sent from Boston on a mission to investigate the savage attacks and stop the slaughter, vampire warrior Kade has his own reasons for returning to the frigid, forbidding place of his birth. Haunted by a secret shame, Kade soon realizes the stunning truth of the threat he faces--a threat that will jeopardize the fragile bond he has formed witht he coruageous, determined young woman who arouses his deepest passions and most primal hungers. But in bringing Alex into his world of blood and darkness, Kade must confront both his own personal demons and the even greater evil that could destroy all he hold dear.

CONTROLLED RELEASE NOTES:

What a book! I've finally finished the series so far; as I was only sent this seven. Each book took me only a week or so to finish before I went onto the next one. However, seeing Christmas came around, I slowed down on this last one. Sorry, but it just happened that way. Once NYE was out of the way, I stuck my nose back into it and was up late reading it 3 -4 four chapters at a time; or until I fell asleep through exhaustion.

WOW! The whole series at once! I'll move these to the top of my TBR list immediately.

This was a good story. I really liked reading about the tortured past of Kade. I also liked reading about the attraction between Kade and Alexandra.

I'm sending this on to the next person this week.

Arrived here safely. Thanks again JennyC1230! These are coming in a bit quicker than I expected, but will try to get to them as soon as I can. :)
Thanks for the spiral Sfogs!

Journal Entry 20 by Tsjara at Assendelft, Noord-Holland Netherlands on Tuesday, April 3, 2012
Started reading this over a week ago and then put it down after a little bit, it seemed to start a bit slow (or maybe I wasn't in the mood). Then I picked it up again and finished it in one day. :p This one also has lots of action and just kept me reading. Didn't know much about Kade before, so it was nice to get to know him (and learn more about his background).

Spoiler!
I don't think the Ancient is really dead? (there is no body..) And wonder what he did to Jenna (Alex's friend), why does she keep mumbling in the Ancient's language?

Oh dear, Tsjara tells me this is the last in the spiral! :(
This was waiting with a few others when I returned from holiday - it will have to wait a bit as there's always a lot to catch up with after an absence, but I know these tend to let themselves be read quickly. Thanks so much for making this series available.

Journal Entry 23 by wingpenelopewanderswing at Hasliberg, Bern / Berne Switzerland on Saturday, April 28, 2012
Tsjara tells me this is the last in the series?? Oh no!
Actually maybe it's just that our bookcrossing spiral ends here, as I see there are still a few more. This one, set in Alaska is somehow less gruesome than some of the previous books in the series. I enjoyed Kade's special gift, although his lack of will power was a bit irksome - fortunately Alex is a forgiving sort. I don't want to create a spoiler so I'll leave it at that. (speaking of which I totally agree with Tsjara's predictions...and Brock and Jenna might just connect...
Hopefully, this spiral won't really end here?? I'd so like to read the others.
Waiting for jonniboi to reconfirm his address...
thanks so very very much for making these available!

hi thanks for sending this :)

Don't know how long it will take to get around to it, but I've put everything in priority order, and since I'm last in this spiral, the series is near the bottom of my bookrings/rays.

Journal Entry 26 by JonniC at Birmingham, West Midlands United Kingdom on Sunday, August 26, 2012
Amazing, I loved the setting of this book, to be honest I will never go anywhere that cold, I find the UK way too cold, so God only knows how much I wouldn't cope there. But it also reminded me a lot of one of the "Dark-Hunter" novels, the fifth book to be exact.

That is the thing I'm not entirely happy about these books, I feel like they aren't really Lara Adrian's own work, and that she has took a lot of inspiration from various other novels. However they do have a uniqueness to them that can not be found in any other books.

I loved the start and it captured me straight away, mainly because it's a very different start to the previous books.

It was nice to see Kade's past and understand him more, but I felt really disappointed at how Alex reacted to what he said, but I guess some people will just totally understand what one would want them to understand.

This was definitely an exciting twist, and I remember gasping when finding out certain things, and I was totally worried about everything that was going on.

I also agree with Tsjara on her spoiler, and I cannot believe the spiral's finished :( I shall be buying the rest of the series when I can as I cannot leave the series like this.

I finished this book at 4am this morning, and I just had to finish this book before going to bed, otherwise it would've been stuck on my mind all night, refusing to let me fall asleep!

Not sure when I will be getting the last few books, but as soon as I have and I've read them, I may just continue the spiral, but this time including the last books. But it may be ages until I get around to finally doing it
