This book set in Washington, D.C. was the last book I read for my 2009 50 States Reading Challenge..and I finished it New Year's Eve!

I actually might have not finished it if I hadn't been reading it for the challenge: not because the story isn't well written, but because I didn't like what was happening to Joe. In the end it felt like things were tied up a little too neatly and easily, but overall it was still an enjoyable read.

I've been to our nation's capital several times, but there's always more to see and do there, so I wouldn't mind going back again.

This arrived safely in Maryland yesterday. Thanks so much for the wishlist RABCK, Hyphen8! I've read and enjoyed most of the books in this series; just have the last few to read or find. I've actually read them all in sequence over the years. Maybe this one will get a themed release after I finish it (being this close to DC)! Thanks again :)

Margaret Truman explained at the beginning of this book how all of her books are based in the real Washington D.C., since all of her places actually exist. But for this story she invented the Washington Tribune, since some of the employees/reporters in her fictional story aren't good representatives of the 4th estate. I'm used to hearing the occasional story about a cop fabricating evidence. But I don't think I'd even thought of the possibility of a reporter doing that. In these days of pushing for increased market share and sales in search of the almighty dollar, I guess it's not so surprising that someone could be tempted to do just that.

I enjoy Margaret Truman's mysteries very much. I've read all of them over the years, and I'm going to follow this one with the next in her Capital Crimes series, Murder at the Opera. That leaves me with only 2 more to find, the last 2 in the series, Murder at K Street and Murder Inside the Beltway.

Thanks so much for sending this to me, Hyphen8. This will be going to the BCinDC 10th year anniversary convention next month. This will either be left on the "themed release" book buffet table, or perhaps I'll look for a themed release myself.

This will be left on the themed release table at the BCinDC convention. Enjoy!

Thank you so much, bookstogive, for the huge box of books (32 of them!) you sent to share with visitors to the Little Free Library of Twinbrook (#7720). All of us here in Rockville, Maryland, very much appreciate your generosity.

I am honored to receive a book that used to belong to MaryZee, my friend from BCinDC, my local BookCrossing group. MaryZee passed away suddenly a few years ago and all of us in my group miss her so much. Rest in peace, dear friend.
