Fake Vol. 3
2 journalers for this copy...
Bought this at a library used book sale. (It was with the children's books, so I quickly rescued it before any younglings stumbled across it)
I have a copy of this in my permanent collection already, so this one is for BookCrossing.
This was one of the first manga/anime series I ever fell in love with. Dee and Ryo have a strange but interesting chemistry. They're police officers and partners in New York City. The attraction between them builds slowly through the 7 volumes (Dee constantly wants to jump Ryo's bones but Ryo wants to take things slow). This is volume 3.
The Christmas story in this volume is one of my favorites in the whole series because I love Ryo and the emotion/weakness regarding his backstory is nice; more importantly, that story shows how thoughtful Dee can be! Also, I love the art throughout the series.

I'd read and enjoyed the first book in the series some time back, so I was pleased to find this one in the box - looking forward to visiting Dee and Ryo again!
I really love all the background chat and snide remarks in this series - it almost makes up for the really unbelievable level of sexual harassment at the police station {wry grin}. [Then again, I think Berkeley's rather hot - given that he looks a lot like Ryo but with glasses and a smirk!]
I also like the fact that there's some actual police work going on (with some extremely violent crimes to be solved), even if it does feel like it's interrupting the various flirtations - though one might say with equal justification that all that flirting is getting in the way of the police work.
The let's-compare-kisses scene was very sweet indeed, despite the inevitable interruption just when things were starting to get steamy - a pattern with this series. And the home-alone-at-Christmas bit was lovely, even if it's as frustrating to the reader as it is to poor Dee when Ryo dozes off in mid-snuggle!
