One of the joys of reading an Oliver Sacks book is the endnotes, which are often as lengthy as the text itself, and explore all sorts of interesting side alleys and byways off the main narrative. And this book doesn't disappoint :-)

A fascinating (though dated now, having been written in the late 80s) look at the way language and the brain interact, and the implications of this for the deaf, who often are not exposed to signing (and thus full experience of language) until late childhood.
