The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
7 journalers for this copy...
Even though I'm not usually a fan of comedy, I loved reading this sci-fi novel. It has it's own kind of humor.
My husband had given me a copy of The Hitchhiker's Guide many years ago when we were still in Germany. I tried to read it but gave up very soon, because I had to look up tons of vocabulary on each page. I tried again after living in the US for a few years and it was a cinch, very easy to read. It's amazing how many words, idioms, etc. I learned, just by living here for a while.
This is a different copy that I bought for my partner for the Weihnachtswichteln 2009 on the Bookcrossing forum.
Viel Spass damit, Schwester. Ich bin gespannt, ob dein Englisch besser ist als meins damals :)

The Weihnachtswichtel-gifts arrived WEEKS ago, and I am very proud to tell: I did not open them before Christmas! Which is remarkably heroic of me as it came such a long way from Pasadena and I was already thrilled by the Christmas card which came with them.
So this is one of the books, and it´s from my wishlist, so what can I say, but: thank you soo much!
Vienna, Jan 18th. Just reading the first pages, but I think I´m going to really like it! I already loved the first two sentences:
"Far out in the uncharted backwaters of the unfashionable end of the West Spiral arm of the Galaxy lies a small unregarded yellow sun. Orbiting this at a distance of roughly ninety-eight million miles is an utterly insignificant little blue-green planet whose ape-descended life forms are so amazingly primitive that they still think digital watches are a pretty neat idea."
Jan 24th. A great book! I think I´ll have to have the next books as well.
Feb 1st. This book is going to continue its journey in good old Europe... I hope, you don´t already know it and I hope you´ll like it.

Hmm what can I say... even though this was an okay story and quite readable book, this and sci-fi (&fantasy) in general is just not my cup of tea...but at least now I can cross it off from my 1001 list:D

This book is on its way to lamelemon in Romania via the wishlist tag-game:) I hope you'll enjoy the book!
Received with thanks :) It seems to have brought along some perfectly edible, delicious outer space chocolate - I couldn't resist and now I just hope I don't grow antennae :)
Thanks a lot Soozreader for a wish come true and for the yummy (totally un-melted) Finnish chocolate and the lovely card.
Now back to the Wishlist-Tag thread for some more wishhunting :)

Very funny and witty, a delight and a great source of good humor. Short and dynamic, a perfect weekend or holiday read. I can't believe I didn't get to read this earlier and I'm now left wishing for the next book in the series.
Just received it from a lovely workmate :) Looking forward to reading it.
Still around, after doing the office rounds :)

Got this book in the mail today from Lamelemon after it has been travelling for a while in the post circuit (saw a stamp with 17-6-2013 on it). I've heard so many stories and quotes of this book, but never got to reading it. I first want to finish another book before starting with this one.
Thanks lamelemon for making this available via the EU VBB

I was surprised by this book. It was very entertaining book some clever humour, although I had to read some parts twice to really understand what was going on. When my dad saw I had this book, he wants to read it too so I gave it to him and when he finished reading it I will pass it on again.
I will try to find the other hitch-hiker books, I'm curious how the story continues.

This book has been sitting on my fathers bed table for far too long. It will travel further in the SF & Fantasy bookbox organised by Miekster, so it will always find a SF loving reader.
I've taken this book from the SF book box. I'm a novice as to reading Sci-Fi, but heard so much good about this book that I have to try it.
