Amazon Editorial Review:
All his life, Tim Meeker has looked up to his brother Sam. Sam's smart and brave -- and is now a part of the American Revolution. Not everyone in town wants to be a part of the rebellion. Most are supporters of the British -- including Tim and Sam's father. With the war soon raging, Tim know he'll have to make a choice -- between the Revolutionaries and the Redcoats . . . and between his brother and his father.
(from BC Global Overview)
I bought this at a book sale in West Chester, PA. I plan to read and release it.
Update:
I loved this book! It’s loaded with suspense. Young Tim Meeker grapples with the decision of which side to support during the American Revolution---Loyalists (with his father) or Patriots (with his brother). Except for his brother Sam away with the Continental army, the war seems like a distant concept at first. But as the war comes closer to the town of Redding, the lives of Tim’s family and neighbors will never be the same. With the title in mind, I expected a sad ending and was surprised with the events that occurred. The characters face tragedy, irony and realize the price of war.

Bookcrossing meeting at the Panera Bread. Enjoy!
from the abxc meetup. I must have had a deprived childhood because I never read this classic. Added to the TBR stack
abcx-mhs160; on the ALA banned book list, read for the banned book challenge. I did read this as a child, but didn't remember hardly any of it. I think it represented the revolutionary war fairly, calling upon the reader to really think and judge what happened on BOTH sides during the war. Will release for the banned books challenge.

If you aren't familiar with Bookcrossing, take a few minutes to check out this very cool site. Bookcrossers LOVE books, and more than anything, they love to read books and then set them free for other people to find and enjoy. I would love it if you would leave a journal entry -- you can say where you found the book or how you liked it when you read it. Then, when you are ready, pass it along for someone else to enjoy! Thanks and happy reading!
