Mma Ramotswe had a detective agency in Africa, at the foot of Kgale Hill so begins the very first of Mc Call Smith's Ladies' Detective Agency series. He's one of my favourite authors but I don't actually have this one ... so was glad to find it in Mind (Charity shop for the mentally ill) in Ashbourne, Derbyshire in late November. It cost me £1.25.

I read this before going off to England in February (for a shopping-muesum extravangza with my soon to be 18 year old daughter) but didn't have time to journal before I left.
This was a good read. I found myself wishing I'd read the books in order as the characters really do develop (which is to be expected) .. really loved the final page. Hollywood Stuff which makes me wonder when they will make a TV series from this ... it would be a lot of fun to see it though films only very rarely are as good as the book. Ian McEwan's The Atonement is the only book that I think is surpassed by the film. I loved that.
