Just received. Still reading. Journal when done.
First, I have to confess that I didn't finish the book -- I got about halfway through, plus I skimmed a lot through the whole book. It's the kind of book made for skimming and browsing, rather than reading from cover to cover -- one you might want to pick up for 10 or 15 minutes at a time, but seldom longer. Some moderately funny spots, some unfunny spots -- nothing that made me laugh out loud. (Maybe I could've found something if I kept reading.) The many lists in the book are probably the most amusing parts.
I wouldn't go out of my way for this book.

It's a dark day for my ego. I was sure that I had solid footing on Hipster Ground. All the way through this book, when not howling and yelling to roommates ("Seriously, who does *this* bit remind you of?!"), I was doing little self-checks, here and there. I was pretty confident when I reached the quiz at the end of the book. I knew which answers would yield the best score (you know, just like those pop culture quizzes in various periodcals), but I thought I was hip enough that I wouldn't have to delude myself.
Turns out, I am merely a poseur (or worse) after all. *shrug* Still, my horned-rim glasses and recent coif (administered using Bed Head Maniuplator) are deck as ef.
Thanks lightwavz! My roomies need to read this, and it's going on to mellion108.

I'm mailing this to mellion108 as a continuation of this ray. My sincere apologies for the delay!
Thanks cliff1976 for sending this my way, and a big thank you to lightwavz for making it available!
I currently have one very large book for a ray that I'm reading, and then one other smaller bookray. Once I finish those two, I'll tackle this one and then let it continue its journey. :) Happy reading!

I am fin. That's it. I assume that means "finished." I'm not deck as ef in the least. Heck, I'm not even a patio. ;-)
This is an amusing, entertaining little book. It's easy to breeze through (I read it in a couple of hours while doing some work at my computer). I skimmed a lot of it. The descriptions are sometimes humorous, sometimes scathing! I don't think I know anyone who fits these categories. And then I thought, "Oh, these must be the people who leave the safety of their suburban homes on weekends and go to places like Clutch Cargo in Pontiac. These are the same people who are then shocked that they get their butts kicked afterwards, their money stolen, and their cars vandalized. Or maybe that's just my interpretation. :) Anyway, it's entertaining and relies on stereotypes, but I got a few chuckles out of it.
Mailed this to Mom-of-one on 09/10/03. Thanks lightwavz!

I received this book a couple days ago (sorry for not journaling sooner) and have already read the whole thing. I found it quite amusing! It describes how my friends and I felt about ourselves and behaved when we were younger and thought we were just the hippest things to grace God's green earth! I guess that makes me an "aging hipster." (Well, actually, after taking the test at the end of the book, I found I wasnt EVEN a hipster anymore, but merely a poseur. That's okay, though!
Anyhow, I thought it was a cute book and want to thank lightwavz for making it available!
Going out next to grover3d!

I had forgotten I signed up for this one - I'll put it on top of my TBR pile and I'll get to it soon so I can pass it on. Thanks!
Well, I liked it a lot more until the final quiz revealed that I'm STILL a Milquetoast! =) Cute, if a trifle long. Thanks so much for sharing this - I'll send it along.

The book arrived safe and sound today. I've skimmed through the hairstyles section and had a chuckle. Will read this as soon as I can.
So here I am dressed as fin as imaginable in my tie-die shirt and the test at the end of the book tells me I'm deck. The test came out more accurately for my husband pointing him out for for the poseur that he is. The illustrations are best part of the book and the most boring bits have to be the lengthy explanations of the various types of hipsters. By about the third one I just started skipping through these sections.
Moogytree has asked to be skipped.
Release planned for Saturday, June 26, 2004 at Maurean in n/a, n/a Controlled Releases.

This showed up in my mailbox today. I am currently in the middle of another book, but will read this next, and journal once I've finished. Looks like a fun read! (Thanks for sharing it, lightwavz)
Well, my poor ego has taken quite a hit lately. First, I find out I am NOT a Wacky Chick, and now, I find I am no where near being deck as ef...in fact, I am *barely* (save one point!) milquetoast! I do, however, have several of the "symptoms of Hipster Depreciation" if that counts for anything!
This was a cute little book. Thanks for sharing it lightwavz. Now, to get it sent to CasualReader so that it may continue its journey. Me?! I think I'll go get shellacked..... *mailed 7/17

This arrived on Friday, and I was able to get it read over the weekend. Cute book, and I'm proud to report, I'm no hipster :-)
Thanks for sharing.
Off to skcreader pronto.

received a couple of days ago and reading now...
I am an appropriately accessorized aging hipster .... sending on to MarthaMinx - never heard back from satan666.
Received yesterday, and already giggling while reading the back cover aloud to my husband. Oh, the days of being hip! Will journal again when done...
Journal Entry 22 by dagett from Wien - irgendwo / Vienna - somewhere, Wien Austria on Tuesday, December 14, 2004
The book arrived today along with two other books! What a surpise! Thank you so much MarthaMinx, you made my day :)
And thanks to lightwavz!
Funny! Though I don't seem to be a hipster, this book reassured me that hipsters must look pretty much the same in many places of the world ;-)
Sometimes the language is a little hard to understand because it is - well - so hip and my poor vocabulary doesn't live up to so much hipness.
I'll take this book with me to the next meet-up in Vienna, I'm sure one of the participants will be interested in it.

Journal Entry 24 by Karschtl from Wien - irgendwo / Vienna - somewhere, Wien Austria on Friday, April 8, 2005
Dagett gave me this book along with another one at our MeetUp tonight. She said a student of American Studies should read that. I don't know yet what hipsters are, but will find out soon.
But I'm a bit confused. Dagett said that she was on the end of the list for this Ray, but now I see that there is another member in NZ. Is that list still up to date?

Edit: April 2006
Leafed through the book. I don't think I'm a hipster and I don't really know what or who they really are. But I recognized some books and movies that I read or saw myself. That doesn't make me a hipster now, does it?

Karrschtl told me to take the book, so I obeyed! According to the first 7 clues I'm not a hipster. I just knew that one day my suspicion would be confirmed..

This book has spent enough time in my possession and still hasn't rubbed off. While I don't wear pastel coloured dress suits or holiday themed sweaters, I'm barely milquetoast. And recently someone told me I dress like a librarian! Well, I am one, but still, that hurt ;-)
