A Crack Up at the Race Riots

the back cover reads" There is no place for plot, linear narrative, character developement, or scene setting." Sending through the bizarre bookbox.
Picked this out of the Bizarre Bookbox as it looks intriguing. (Also looks like a fast read - always nice in this "age of small children"! LOL.)
This is one weird book. It seems to be a commentary on modern society (I'm assuming so, anyway), told through snippets of seemingly unrelated dialogue, random notes, and film scenes or ideas.
It's a fitting Bizarre Bookbox tome, I think, so I'm adding it to time-traveler's. :-)

Ok, I never intended to read this...book. I picked up the Bizarre Bookbox earlier in the week from my post office box and still had the box in my car the next day. I was stuck in traffic the next morning because the route I normally take was shut down for the filming of the remake of "Red Dawn," so I reached into the box and pulled out this one. Started reading. Kept repeating, "Wtf?" Add in a couple more construction-related commuter delays that evening, and Voila! I've finished reading the...book.
All I can continue saying is, "Wtf?" In fact, I think that's the theme of this...book. Korine wrote Kids, one of the most intense movies I've ever seen. He also directed a few other little films. He's definitely a unique mind. This book, however, falls so far over the bizarre line that it makes no sense. Little snippets, notes, thoughts, etc. I don't know if these are free associations of his for his writing, diary-like observations of daily life? Anyway, it's freaky. It's weird. It belongs in the Bizarre Bookbox, and I'm leaving it there.
I promise to stop reading things in the box and start choosing and replacing instead!
Trade paperback, 175 pages

"WTF" is right. This is one of the weirdest books I have ever read. It was a very quick read and even though I continually questioned why I was reading it, I continued to do so. In fact, even though I am normally reading 3 or 4 books at once, I finished this one and would pick it up and none of the others. It was like a train wreck that you can't stop looking at!
It is not a bad book. It just makes no sense. No other way to describe it, just read it. I am going to have to come up with a great place to release this. Otherwise it will have to "sit" and wait for the next bizarre bookbox mrsjones and I receive.
