It has arrived, from tostle's TBR pile to mine--thanks so much!
I enjoyed this book and its unromantic look at small-town life. I felt that Kimmel did a very good job of telling her stories from her younger self's point of view, not as an adult looking back on them.
I mailed this today to TinyToes, who chose it from the Trade Paperback VBB.
This has been in my "virtual" to-be-read list for while. Now it is in my actual TBR pile! Thanks, jumpingin, for sending it to me.
This was a nice book. I enjoyed it a lot. While the book is humorous but not hysterically funny, there were some laugh-out-loud turns of phrase. And while the book is funny - there is also some underlying serious stuff as well.
Sent off in the mail as part of jnpert's TPB VBB round 3. Have a great Thanksgiving!
I probably received this over a week ago. Sorry for the delay in journal-ling. I do look forward to reading it.
I read this book because it was featured on the Today show. I was a little disappointed given the glowing praise it got. It is a pleasant book and the author has a nice writing style. The book is humorous and has a fair number of smiles although few laugh out loud parts. My biggest complaint is that book lacked an arc of a storyline. It is just some memories of her youth in a small town in Indiana. But it is a short book that can be read in a few hours so probably worthwhile.
