Sex Lives of Cannibals, The: Adrift in the Equatorial Pacific
2 journalers for this copy...
Maarten Troost may have spent a few years adrift in the equatorial Pacific, but he managed (eventually) to find his voice as a comic travel writer.
He makes Kiribati (and specifically Tarawa) seem like a lovely, fascinating place..that you probably don't want to visit, or at least not for very long. But if you do go, leaving might not be all that easy - the airlines don't sound like they're exactly what you'd call dependable.
Back before Kiribati became independent, I met a few Gilbertese people - they were living in Honolulu at the time. I wonder what they'd have to say about this book..but I enjoyed it a lot.

I received this book in the late Spring. I thought I'd already caught it and added a JE, but since it's not on my bookshelf, I guess I didn't. (perhaps in the change over to the new site, it got lost.)
I read this in a weekend and handed it over to one of my friends who was interested in it.
Most likely the book will find it's way back to me since that's what most of the teachers do!
Happy Reading!
