"I have always imagined that Paradise will be a kind of library."
Jorge Luis Borges
picked up off of the sale table at Border's for $3.99 as it just looked interesting
"Second hand books are wild books, homeless books; they have come together in vast flocks of variegated feather, and have a charm which the domesticated volumes of the library lack." --Virginia Woolf

Cleaning off my shelves and sending books out into the world
"A book is a mysterious object, I said, and once it floats out into the world, anything can happen. All kinds of mischief can be caused, and there's not a damned thing you can do about it. For better or worse, it's completely out of your control."
Paul Auster

Thanks for sending me this book. Looks like a fun read-- travel, multicultural conflicts, and transformation.
I was enjoying this book and the quirkiness of the characters and situations. But about halfway through, I lost interest.
I'm adding this to the Around the World bookbox. Enjoy!

I'm claiming this softcover from the Around the World bookbox. (Love the "Ballycumber on Safari" bookplate!)
Later: Unusual and quirky novel about difficult family relationships, personal losses, attempts to re-invent one's self, and lots and lots of culture clash - some of it very funny, some a bit too fraught for me. It does a great job of letting the reader into places and emotions they might not otherwise experience - though it also made me very glad that I *didn't* have to experience most of Sasha's trials!
