The Next Queen of Heaven

I am so pleased to say that this is a free book I received through Concord Free Press, which offers free books in the expectation that the recipients will give money to a good cause. This is book 811, and I have given to a good cause. They also expect the recipient to pass the book along... what a good idea!
I finished reading this book over the Christmas holidays. Not sure what to think, having only read Maguire's Oz-related books up till now. I think this book lacked some of his wonderful way with words, and I have to say I'm not exactly sure what it was about.... but it was interesting. I'll be passing it along now, as expected.

Got it and looking forward to reading it. Thanks Bascula!
Finished it the other day. It was quite different from what I normally read and very different from Maguire's style, but it definitely had a humorous edge to it and there were some memorable parts. It's now available.

Getting a bookray together for this. As this is a Concord Free Press book, participants should donate as little or as much as they like to a charity of their choice. You can register what you donated at www.concordfreepress.com. It's for a whichever good cause you support, so let's pass on the karma!

I just plucked it out of my mailbox, so it arrived safe and sound. Thanks for sending it to me amcamp!
I have read some good things about mr. Maguire and he has been recommended to me a couple of times, but I don't really see what is so great about him.
I was really irritated with the constant inane chatter the characters keep indulging in. It seems as if they are uncapable of stringing together a coherent sentence of more than five words and when they do it is just to say very little interresting about nothing at all. The actions all seem quite random and whatever is supposed to be so very funny completely escapes me. Mind you, there are some bits I smiled at a little, but it was never a terrifying, thrilling, once-in-a-lifetime adventure as the book cover promised. I was disappointed to say the least. I tried and failed, guess we weren't meant to be! ;)
Edit to say: I found the idea of Concord Free Press very appealing and I did give to a charity. Two small donations. One to a homeless person and second to help out a family member who just lost her job.
Reserved for fee_gee.

On its way to fee-gee, who requested it in Apoloniax' European Book-relay. I hope you'll enjoy it!
Thanks for sending this book on to me, I have also heard good things about this author but have not read any of his other books yet.
As the publishers recommend a charitable donation I plan to make a donation to a leukaemia charity as my sister in law has now got the all clear this month and is in remission :0)
This book is certainly a bit different!!! I first picked it up to read months ago and after the first few chapters came to the conclusion that the main characters were very unlikeable and the story seemed to be about a very unpleasant relationship between mother and daughter so I stopped reading as I just did not like it...
However I don't like leaving books unfinished, especially books passed on by fellow bookcrossers and I wanted to get this book moving again due to the charitable aspect of this book, so I picked it up again last week....
I'm glad that I did as after the first few chapters I found that I was beginning to enjoy this book, the characters are a bunch of oddballs to say the least and most of them not all that endearing yet I still found myself wanting to read on and find out where things were heading for them. Ultimately I did enjoy this book in the end and will probably look out for other books by this author.

Thank you so much for the book. I have read several of the Oz books but I think this one is a bit different.
