There are probably loads of critiques and reviews on this book existing already, as it apparently one of the most widely read of English novels. I suppose this is actually why you should read it yourself; you may or may not enjoy the storyline, or empathise with the heroine, but it's a book definitely worth reading through so you can make up your mind.

Caught by an observant bookseller in Waterstone's UEA, earlier on this afternoon. I spied it on next to Bill Bryson at number 1 in the bestsellers, as the Virgo in me noticed it was out of place :) I knew what it was straight away as I'd read about bookcrossing in the paper a while back, had visited the site and hoped one day I'd see a 'wild book'. Didn't know whether to just ignore it and let a customer find it, but then I'd been hoping to find one and wanted to join in the fun! Also I've not read the book and it's one of those books that I've been meaning to get around to for ages (along with all the other thousands of titles on my mental read-list). Many thanks for releasing this book cellar-door, I'll read it and send it on its merry way...

at last.... it took me a while to get round to reading it, as i had many other books on the go too. Am glad I've read it as it's one of those classics I've been meaning to read for ages. Enjoyed reading it, but more so enjoyed then moving straight on to "The Eyre Affair" by Jasper Fforde - cult writer in the making. If you haven't read any of his 'Thursday Next' series then do so as soon as you can. In the Eyre Affair the eponymous heroine, (Thursday Next) is a literary detective in a 1980s England (but not this England as we know it), and actually bookjumps into 'Jane Eyre' and alters the ending. Read it! I can't really say anymore apart from it's very hilarious, clever and very inventive.
