Journal Entry 3 by wingmaryzeewing at Taneytown, Maryland USA on Sunday, June 27, 2010
This came home in my Bookish bookbox, although I'm a bit confused about the title. The cover says "The Witch's Journal," the title page says "How to Cook and Eat Children: A Cautionary Tale," and the title on the journal entry is "The Witch's Guide to Cooking with Children." Regardless, it sounds like an unusual re-telling of Hansel and Gretel. I enjoy modern retellings of classic fairy tales. I loved Ella Enchanted by Gail Carson Levine, and the art work of this one reminds me of Neil Gaiman's Coraline.

Looking forward to it! Thanks Debnance!

enjoyed this children' story. Sol is a great example of an older brother; smart and a good student, although he does have problems relating to the other kids. Connie is a bit jealous of him too; she has to investigate his science project which be locked away. The kids moved to a new town with their father (they think) & their new stepmother. They soon learn the new town isn't as innocent as their old one.

I'd like to read a sequel to this, but I checked Amazon and didn't see it listed. I'll have to remember to keep any eye out in the future.

Thanks for sharing this DebNance. I'll try to find a good release spot, esp. with Halloween coming soon.
