It is considered as No.1 on the Amazon.co.uk travel bestseller list and continuously high rankings. The new-look B format paperback will allow this hilarious book to really take-off and build on it's already excellent track record. Journal Entry 8 by BethanieKay from Fort Worth, Texas USA on Monday, January 18, 2010
This was a fun and quick book, I enjoyed it! It was interesting to read the author's exploits about living in Greece and building his 'dream' house in Greece. Having been to Greece many times (and having dated a native Greek who lived in Greece for a couple years), I could relate to some of the customs, beliefs, ways of life, and general cultural antics of the Greeks. Some of the stories made me laugh out loud (especially when the pet dog "turned to concrete") while others made me cringe. All in all, a fun read - especially for anyone who has ever dreamed (either foolishly or realistically) of living in a foreign land. Thanks for letting me join! I've PM'd the next in line for an address.

I couldn't really appreciate this book fully because, since John's illness, some books just don't seem to grab my attention. I'm afraid I didn't read all of it but what I did read seemed to capture the full flavour of Greek life and its people. I hope the next reader can appreciate it more than I did. Thank you Sobergirl for including me in the ring and I will be passing it on to Auweia next week, when I have the address.

This was a fun, quick read and I enjoyed John Mole's "adventures" in Greece very much. Although I've never visited Greece before, I found that the Greek way of life & customs do resemble life in the Balearics a lot so this was not "all Greek to me" after all;) Many thanks again for sharing this sobergirl! Hayes13 has asked to be skipped so I'll be sending this directly to Ronsar in Germany.

Arrived yesterday - thank you very much for slotting me in to the list! Hopefully I'll get this read quickly, but definitely within the month. Looks excellent and in fact I'd start it now, were it not for the fact that I'm up early to release books for a BookCrossing stall we're running at a local village festival today!!

Journal Entry 24 by LyzzyBee at Birmingham, West Midlands United Kingdom on Sunday, July 18, 2010
I really enjoyed this honest and funny account of doing up a battered house in a Greek island village, although it was a little odd that it was written 25 or so years after the events it portrays. I have a weakness for an expatriate-buys-a-house book and have read quite a few in my time. This was a good one, with a real feel for, and love for, the people in the village. There were a few rather vivid scenes around animal slaughter which may not be particularly suitable for the squeamish. I really liked the truthful scenes of family life, bickering and all, and the sense of luck that they found and could restore this lovely building. More photos would have perhaps been nice... I already have the next reader's address and will be sending it on next weekend. Thanks for letting me slot into the ring!

I also have a passion for this genre, but I'm sorry to say that this was not one of the best "buying-a-house-in-mediterranean" stories I've read. Maybe too much slaughtering to my taste :( Quite OK read still.
