Based on the TV series a good adaptation.

maybe a few dodgy accents from the reader but not overly so so does not distract from the story.

The story of Sean and Tina who kill people for fun and they have started to kill policemen.

Hmm, I'm not the greatest fan of thrillers, and I notice this is an abridgement of a novel by an author who gets almost NO credit. Well, this will be my chance to broaden my horizons, and still a good excuse to sit and knit.

Since I've never seen the TV series, I can't judge how good an adaptation it is, but it does seem to have all of the characters condensed neatly into simple caricatures, so probably it is faithful to its source. I really disliked Fitz, the police profiler; he seems as self-centered and irresponsible as the criminals. Maybe that's what makes him so good at interrogating them, because he certainly did that well.

Smurphie, you'd know better than I about the accents, but I'm such a goofball for any kind of British accent I loved them all. Steven Hartley, the reader, was excellent about switching back and forth, so we're never in doubt about who's speaking.

The one part of the tapes which deserves unqualified praise is the musical lead-in and close. It's 'Summertime' by George Gershwin, sung enchantingly by Carol Kidd. Her shimmery voice and perfect phrasing make this the best performance of the song I've ever heard. I can't guess why this was chosen, because the TV series did have its own music, but I'm delighted and grateful.

This presentation is on two cassettes.
