This book is a gift from the great artist Dallas Clayton for the german Bookcrossers.
I read about it and asked Dallas if he would send me one book as a gift:

Hi Dallas,
I read about your book at jetzt.sueddeutsche.de.
And now I wonder if you have ever heard of Bookcrossing? I'm sure you have ;o)
If not have a look at bookcrossing.com
I'm a very active member of the german community, my screenname is ChaosHamburg. If I had a job I would buy a copy of that awesome book and make it a bookring where anybody can subscribe and we send the book around. But sadly I have no job at this moment.
So I come to my request: will you give us (the german bookcrossers) one book as a gift? That would be also a good advertising for your book. Very often members of a bookring buy the books after they read them in the bookring.
Maybe I can start a collection at BC-Germany to get at least the postage (just say a word!).
If you think my question ist just impertiment, please excuse me and drop this mail. But if you would like to make friends with the german BCers, send a copy of your book to me and I will organize that bookring:

Name Nachname
Straße xx
2xxxx Hamburg
Germany

Thank you for reading my mail and getting along with my strange english ;o)
Now I will lie down on my sofa and DREAM of mail with a book inside.
Have a nice autumn!
Name

And amazing but true – he did that. AWESOME! Here is his answer:
Thanks so much! This sounds fun!
I'll put one in the mail for you.
Good luck!

DALLAS

So let's make great journal entries to tell him about the AWESOME journey of his book!

Read this nice little book during a meetup in Hamburg, Café Smoegen, before it starts its journey through Germany. I liked the pictures very much! So much to discover in the pictures, very funny!

Journal Entry 3 by wingulfiewing from Hamburg - Uhlenhorst, Hamburg Germany on Tuesday, October 20, 2009
Before the book starts its journey through Germany, it made a little trip yesterday in our meet-up-location Café Smögen. I was one of its reader and I liked it very much.

Yippie!

The book arrived safely today - now the green monster is sitting on my lap ;-)

I really like the book: there are so many details to discover! I love the colours and craziness. I hope I will have many BIG and exciting dreams tonight.

Plus I LOVE the notes on the back of the book:

Yesterday during our mini-meetup in Frankfurt,I had a look in this funny little book. Wonderful pictures and hopeful reading inspire me for a nice christmas present for my daughter. Hope she will make her dreams come true :-)

Journal Entry 6 by wingSagunawing from Nürnberg, Bayern Germany on Wednesday, November 4, 2009
The mini-meetup in Frankfurt took place because I was there yesterday and so I also had the chance to enjoy this book. But there are some parts that I didn´t really understand (sense). Maybe one should have more time to read it.

Das war dann ein spontanes Lese-/Angucktreffen :-)

Journal Entry 7 by wingchawosowing from Heusenstamm, Hessen Germany on Thursday, November 5, 2009
I also had have a look in this very amazing book at our mini meet-up in Frankfurt. There are many nice idees inside and many small details can be discovered. I think it will be very helpful to take more time for this little book.
Have a good journey, little book! Bring a little bit more ligthness in our fast moving world.

Journal Entry 8 by SaschaBWk from Hamburg - Barmbek, Hamburg Germany on Friday, November 6, 2009
I've seen the book at the meeting in Hamburg about two weeks ago. And as you can see from may late entry I've put the BCID in a another book and forgot about it (the other book, not this book.) The Awsome Book is really charming, funny, and cute. I especially liked the pages with the many boring things. Pictured in this way they were transformed from boring to special.

So, to clarify it again: The book is not back in Hamburg, I'm just late with this entry.

I read the book during our Meetup in the Irish Pub. I like it very much. Someone asked, which "story" I loved best. It was the world upside down. And the sandcastle. And the rocket-powered unicorns. And the sign "give-up". And and and... All those colourful pictures. The whole book! Thank you for letting me participate!

Thank you!

I also had a look in this book during the mini MeetUp in Frankfurt. It is so lovely! I searched for penguins (because I like them) and I found two pictures of them :) And it was so funny to read the book with all of this amazing little features!

Journal Entry 13 by Geroedelheimer from Ravensburg, Baden-Württemberg Germany on Thursday, November 12, 2009

I loved it!

I viewed the book during our "Meet Us in the Pub" at Nov,8th in Ravensburg, and, coming back from a holiday in Spain, I feel obliged to review it now. Very funny, very inspiring, and my favourite is (hardly surprising) "whose dreams can change the way things are".

Journal Entry 15 by ParadizeApple on Monday, November 30, 2009
When I got the book, I was and still am totally amazed. Soon afterwards I got quite sick for a fortnight but eventually went to the post office today and sent the book to Wasserfall. Thank's a lot and endless dream come trues for everybody :-)

Journal Entry 17 by tigertatze from Prenzlauer Berg, Berlin Germany on Saturday, December 19, 2009
This is definitly an awesome book!

I read it to my 7-year-old son and he loved the candy cane machine and studied all its details. Now he dreams to have one of these machines all for himself! My six-year-old daughter also loved the book and was especially amazed about the musical baboons. Both of them were astonished that there are people who have given up dreaming and those who never tried. That certainly was out of their imagination!

I will now read it once again for myself. Especially the page with the dreams about everything that no one thought to wonder, because my children examined those pictures so closely I never had chance to have a close look myself. For this I will lay on my new red sofa, which - I have to admit - I dreamt to have for a long time, because it is just the perfect place to read and dream!

Thanks again for sharing your dreams!

-----

I wil keep the book until January 10th hoping that I will be able to visit the next Berlin meet-up.

I received the book around two weeks ago but forgot to make an entry, and then the new site appeared.

I really like it, the message is beautiful, the poetry is funny, and the pictures are simply amazing.
(The student that I am tutoring in Englisch called it "cute" - and complained that it was too easy for him. ;))

Since the old forum thread is gone, could any one who knows tell me who's next? Or should I find new people to continue the ray?

Edit: I just noticed the list in the first entry. :P I didn't see my name in there at first so I thought it was finished...in that case...I'll contact the next person in line. :)

While Feloris is waiting to receive the next participant's address, she let me have a look at this little book, and it's really charming in a weird sort of way. Kind of the ideal bedtime story for people like me (no matter what age they are).
Thanks for letting me read this. I hope it will have lots of wonderful adventures and get to visit lots of nice people and make them dream... :)

Journal Entry 32 by linguistkris at Graz, Steiermark Austria on Friday, July 16, 2010
I've had the pleasure of meeting this book on two separate occasions, and because there were a few weeks in between to forget half the marvels that its pages hold, it was absolutely twice the pleasure. In the vein of "Where is ....(e.g. Waldo)"-books, the Awesome book hides lots of secret treasures just waiting to be discovered. Which is your favourite unicorn, which is your favourite machine, which is...? The explicit yet unobtrusive message doesn't hurt either.

Journal Entry 33 by Sunjo at Leipzig, Sachsen Germany on Saturday, July 24, 2010

Thank you very much for sharing this one

Journal Entry 34 by susiuni at Leipzig, Sachsen Germany on Saturday, August 7, 2010
DANKE

Got the opportunity to read this little one at the Café Waldi (BC-Meetup) today.
Lovely illustrations, funny remarks and thoughtful ideas. I esp. liked the idea of a car needing jelly beans instead of fuel - where can I get one of these?
It´s one of those books I would read or just switch through the pages again and again.
Thx

Awesome Book arrived few days ago.

I think it *is* awesome. I love the "all rights reserved" notes on the back of the book.
"I have a dragon. He will cry". I KNOW it's just a funny little note and many people write it like that, but still, it makes me smile, because it would work for me - I believe in dragons that cry.
And I'm in love with the multi-colour cangaroo monster.

Awesome Book made some new friends in our kitchen, btw :) Everybody said it was a great book. One friend wanted to write down the text, because it's important to remember what dreams are worth. I think she's right :)

There should be more awesome books. More colourful crazy dreams. A very awesome world indeed.

CONTROLLED RELEASE NOTES:

Read once by myself, and once to my nieces (2 and 4) each. The small one was too overwhelmed with the tiny drawings and lost interest soon, and the older one commented that she found the part about the furniture, hats, cutlery and so on stupid - she knew nobody who was dreaming of such dull things! ;o) And anyway, she was dreaming even more awesome things than in the book, so there! (Well, she is at _that_ age now ;o) ).
It's certainly a colourful and not-too-average book.

Journal Entry 59 by Colombina at Wuppertal, Nordrhein-Westfalen Germany on Tuesday, July 12, 2011
This awesome book arrived today in Wuppertal, yippee :-)!
Thank you very much!

14th July: I love it! It is so important to dream and to use our power of imagination, it helps us through dark times, gives us joy and happiness, prevents us from losing courage when other people (or we) underestimate us, frees our mind and sometimes even provides uncommon solutions to existing problems we would never have solved when approaching the problems with a more rational view - therefore this little book carries a highly important message for young and older children. And the illustrations are just wonderful - the abundant colours work harmoniously together and create a joyful atmosphere. Exploring the drawings that resemble landscapes full of hidden treasures is fun, my favourites however are the magic watermelon boats (very cool!) and the cute raccoons.

(Funnily enough, I had a dream that "roared" just a few days before this little book arrived: I dreamed I gave shelter to a grizzly bear (just like the red bear in the awesome book but wilder) and shared my apartment with him. So I always had to carry at least one honey pot with me to distract him when he thought about eating me, but I didn't want to throw him out because I was afraid that crazy hunters (or politicians) might kill him like they killed Bruno the bear in 2006... And, yes, my grizzly bear did ROOOOAAAAAARRR :-))

15 July: Now on its way to the next participant.
Thank you very much for the wonderful bookring!

Samstag hier angekommen, danke!
Arrived here last Saturday, thanks!

Edit 27.07.2011:
Nett!

Nice! We already had a cow with golden shoes that gave yellow milk because of eating so much dandelion sitting at our dinner table... and now we also got to know the rocket-powered unicorns.. ;o)
I will have to get a bag of jellybeans now...

I read the book to my sons (3 and 5 years old) and they especially liked the "Candy Cane Factory". They can't get enough.
Thank you for sharing.

I will send the book to See-Stern.
