From the back:
HOW CAN YOU BE BEST FRIENDS WITH SOMEONE WHO KEEPS SECRETS FROM YOU?
Stephanie's just moved to a new house, just started at a new school, and just made a new friend... Alison.
Trouble is, she's already got a best friend: Rachel. Two may be company, but when Rachel starts keeping secrets to herself, it looks as if three can be a trial!
But Stephanie already has a secret of her own. It's much worse than anything Rachel keeps from her, and there's no way she can find the words to share it with her friends...
I read a few Judy Blume books when I was a young teenager, starting with 'Superfudge', which we had to read for a school essay. However, I don't think I ever read this one because for some reason I seemed to think that it was a romance (a category of books that I very rarely read). It is not at all, it is a good story about the trials of family, friendship and growing up.
Although it is about friendship, the book treats this as a weaker storyline really. The main storyline is about Stephanie's secret and how she tries to deal with it. I did find this storyline more fascinating than the one about the friendship between the three girls. Although I found the book hard to get into at the start, I found myself reading on for longer than I intended towards the end, just so that I could finish the book.
Not picked up for trick-or-treat so available until I can think of a suitable release.
