Waiter Rant: Thanks for the Tip--Confessions of a Cynical Waiter

My bookcover has the author anonymously named as "The Waiter", so I was surprised when, in the process of registering the book, the author pops up with a first and last name. Looks like, per Publisher Weekly, "anonymity is tough to maintain when you want to do a book tour". Thus, the author is outed as Steve Dublanica, and the "Bistro" as Lanterna Tuscan Bistro in Nyack, N.Y. (I guess he's given up waiting table for a while?)
My bookcover also has this testimony from Anthony Bourdain: "The front-of-the-house version of Kitchen Confidential; a painfully funny, excruciatingly true acount of the waiter's life. You will never look at your waiter the same way again - and will never tip less than 20%."
I just started reading this and so far it's quite entertaining, in a cynical, brutally honest and funny way.

A fast paced, smooth flowing memoir about working in the restaurant business. Quite enjoyable, though not remarkable. The author's penchant for reading shows in his talent for writing.
Now sending to Ri, whom I know will pick this from the bookbox. :)

Azuki, you certainly know my taste! Someday I'm going to show up at your place and drool over all your yummy books and then swipe a few (or hundreds!) Thanks again!
I really enjoyed this one! Of all the "blog to book" books I've read recently (Julie and Julia, The Broke Diaries, etc.), this one translates the best to a printed bound book. As a server myself during high school, I don't envy someone who does this everyday, though I certainly enjoyed reading about it! People can really be so incredulous! I appreciated reading about the author's previous careers as well. It puts the waitering in context of his life and gives a deeper appreciation and understanding of him.
Thanks again for passing this one on to me, azuki!

This got here over two weeks ago. It almost went into my bag on a trip back to Ohio. But got left behind due to luggage space issues.
I've been reading the waiter's blog off and on for years now. I'm looking forward to this look into life as a server.

I really enjoyed this book alot. It wasn't quiet as engrossing as Wait by Debrah Ginsburg (referenced in this book as well it's very good), but it was a humurous and insightful look at the life of a waiter. I was very happy to finally read a copy of this, and founf myself zipping through it.
I'll be offering back up to hungry readers in the Yummy Yummy VBB in the near future :)

I selected this book from the Yummy VBB on Bookobsessed, thanks for offering this one and I am looking forward to reading it and then passing it on.
An interesting look at the restaurant business from the point of view of a waiter at a popular Bistro in NY. According to the book 80% of the coutomers are great but it is the 20% that make it more interesting. I really enjoyed it and could relate as I waited tables to put myself through college and they stories rang true to me.

The book arrived today. Thank you for sharing this wishlist book. I appreciate it very much.
5/4/16: Found this an interesting read. I will now look at the waiters to see if they are drunk (LOL). I wonder if the author ever left serving and what he is doing now. It was written in 2008.
