Greenwich, south-east London....
The Met's crack murder squad is called out by CID detectives to a grim discovery. Five bodies, all young women, are ritualistically murdered and dumped. Post mortems reveal a most dangerous sexual serial killer on the loose.

Wow....what an engrossing read! "Extraordinarily good", "a first-class shocker"& "not for the faint-hearted" says the cover blurb - well, they sure ain't wrong!
A really well-written tale with believeable characters , (DI Diamond, urgh!, I was willing him to get his comeuppance!) & I swear, in the last few pages my pulse was racing faster & faster as events reached their conclusion!
An absolutely cracking read .....I am so glad I discovered this series! "Birdman" is the first in the Jack Caffery series (& also Mo Hayder's debut crime novel) but the second one I've read - & it certainly won't be the last!

Amazing what you find on anextra visit to a charity shop! Picked this up ready for the September 2010 "You're a bit of an Animal" challenge - I hope I get chance to read it before the end of September! (Thanks, Plum-Crazy)

Well - I've read it now, and what a story! Not content with the discovery of 5 murdered women, and the efforts of the local CID to track down their killer, Hayder pushes and delves beyond the depths of such anti-social depravity that if you're not hanging onto the edge of your seat by the last few chapters then you've errr...lost the plot!!?
